Welcome to the home of the Old Fort Mountain Heritage Alliance!

In 2007, the town of Old Fort in western North Carolina joined HandMade In America’s Small Town Revitalization Program. With the assistance of a grant from the N.C. Golden Leaf Foundation and the support of the North Carolina Folk Life Center, Old Fort became a participant in this unique effort to focus on economic development and rejuvenation by identifying and using the community’s assets — our rich heritage, our resources and our strengths — for planning and accomplishing projects that showcase and enrich our community. The Old Fort Mountain Heritage Alliance was formed to achieve these goals for our cherished town.

The mission of the Old Fort Mountain Heritage Alliance is simple: To recognize, revitalize and promote the historic, cultural, social and economic significance of Old Fort and to educate the community about the benefits of its preservation through active volunteerism. We are committed to the preservation and promotion of our small town while looking for ways to create quality development and enhance existing property investments.

We meet on the third Thursday of the month at the train depot on Main Street in Old Fort, at 4pm, and membership is open to the public.
